Edwin E. Dowell papers, 1934-1986.

Papers contain clippings, photographs, correspondence, and publications relating to Dowell's career as a journalist and public relations director. Kennecott Copper Corporation materials include clippings about the Curtiss-Wright takeover attempt, Peabody Coal Co. divestiture, and the closure of the company's Utah plant, which for 50 years was the state's largest employer. Scrapbooks record Dowell's years with United Press, Standard Oil Company, and the U.S. Army. Clippings, photographs, and memorabilia kept while in the Army document D-Day and the liberation of Dachau concentration camp. Also included is a set of official death photos of the Nuremberg trial Nazi war criminals. The history of the "Stars and Stripes" is documented and there is a bound run of the papers from October 1945 through January 1946. There are also clippings about Dowell's Brookings Institution Fellowship and Kennecott Corporation.
